Gijs Determeijer worked as a producer with Waag Society until October 2008. Gijs did the production of the Frequency 1550x10 project, in which schools played the mobile city game Frequency 1550 again in May and June 2007.
Since then Gijs has organized the Creative Workspace for PICNIC Jr., the Come Out & Play Festival, StrangerFestival and PICNIC YOUNG.
In 2008 he made and produced the game Fort Amsterdam together with Ronald Lenz for the Come Out & Play 08 edition in New York. He also produced the movie Personal Travel Assistant that Waag Society made for the City of Amsterdam.
Before this, Gijs was a First Assistant Director at movie productions. He also had his own cross-media firm in Rotterdam (1127), and he started his new media career as an interaction designer at SuperNova Productions in new York.
Gijs is a Bachelor in Media and Culture, UvA, Amsterdam and studied Media Studies at the New School en Parsons School for Design in New York.
Gijs now works a freelance producer and his own bureau called Taking Care of Business in Amsterdam.
