Open content
New possibilities with CC+ licenses

With the renewed support of the Ministry of Education Culture and Science, Creative Commons Netherlands made a fresh start in 2008 with new activities on the open content front.

Besides education on the possibilities of the licenses, the ambition and horizon widened. The issues concerning copyright and open content in The Netherlands have become much more specific and more then ever incorporate tailor-made solutions.

Open content website

Creative Commons Netherlands adapted its activities to the new demands in society.

A website, opencontent.nl, shows the open content initiatives in The Netherlands. It aims to show the diversity and professionality of the selected projects.

CC+

Besides this initiative, a new concept  has been developed called CC+. CC+ is an extension of the existing CC licenses with additional metadata.

With CC+, e.g. a photographer can publish photos under a non-commercial license and still keep the door open for companies. The technology behind CC+ is already in use in The Netherlands since August 2007, in a pilot project with Buma/Stemra.

Also, the most popular educational material, a booklet with comic strips on the use of open content licenses, has been updated and translated in Dutch. It can be downloaded here as a high and low resolution pdf.
