Come to Waag Futurelab on 24 November for a hands-on craft teaching workshop and explore new approaches to craft education. Discover how dialogue, experimentation, reflection and peer learning can transform the way craft is taught and experienced.
Across five connected dimensions - from traditional craft knowledge and new technologies to sustainable futures, collaborative making, and craft business - you’ll explore practical activities, test ideas and develop approaches you can adapt to your own students and context.
You will leave with:
- New tools and approaches for teaching craft
- Experience with practical reflection and making activities
- Ideas for adapting learning activities to your own context
- A first activity you can take away and facilitate yourself
The workshop takes place at Waag Futurelab, a cultural institution researching the intersections of culture, technology and society. The session will be led by Aslı Aydın Aksan, researcher and educator, and Maro Pebo, researcher and artist. Together, they bring expertise in craft and design education, critical making, digital fabrication and artist-led approaches to science and technology. The workshop is part of the Tracks4Crafts project, funded by the European Union.
