Public Stack Academy
For over 30 years, Waag Futurelab has been critically assessing existing and new technologies, and designing alternatives that put people and society first. We have turned this knowledge and experience into an academy programme for professionals: the Public Stack Academy. In this training, you will learn how to make impactful choices regarding technology that align with your professional and organisational values.
The training has been specially developed for professionals who want to gain a better grip on technology within their organisation.

- Gain practical tools to influence digital decision-making within your organisation.
The training generally runs for 4 full days. It is also possible to develop an alternative programme, either at the Waag or on-site.
About the Public Stack
Every technology we use consists of visible and invisible layers, including hardware, software, design processes and business models. All these layers influence the relationship between people and technology – whether as consumers, individuals or citizens, or as members of a democratic society.
To dissect and reveal the various layers that make up digital technologies, Waag has developed the Public Stack model. This model goes beyond the hardware, software and logical layers of the internet and encompasses all technological artefacts and political aspects of the surrounding infrastructures, as well as the human and planetary resources invested in the development of the technology. The Public Stack is an assessment tool for evaluating technology, and a framework for designing technology. During the Public Stack Academy, you will learn, among other things, how to apply this model.
