Wallen Festival

During the Red Light District Festival on the weekend of 5 & 6 July, Waag will open its doors! On the first floor of Waag you can discover how technology, sustainability and community come together. On the second floor of Waag, in the Anatomic Theatre, you can experience a unique musical piece.

Programme

The story of the Zeedijk music by Lorenzo Servali

Get carried away by the sounds of double bass and harpsichord, with music about the history of Amsterdam and the Red Light District. Lorenzo Servali and Katerina Orfanoudaki will play works by Sweelinck, Martini and Misha Mengelberg, among others. The songs will be followed by a commentary on the story. You can attend the performance both days at the following times:

  • 14:30 - 15:00 hrs
  • 15:30 - 16:00 hrs
  • 16:30 - 17:00 hrs

100% Amsterdams Textiel

The TextileLab has teamed up with The Linen Project to grow Amsterdam flax and natural dyes in the heart of Amsterdam. Together with local makers, the material will be handcrafted into a jacket for Mayor Femke Halsema in celebration of Amsterdam 750 years. Get an insight into the process from flax to fibre to fabric.
